Writer, Director & Producer – Karen Anstee
I am a writer-director and a professional musician. Originally trained as a violinist at the Royal Academy of Music, my experiences in the music industry inspired me to take up writing. My short story Symphony of Sighs was produced for BBC Radio 4 in 2015, starring Hugh Dennis and being named ‘pick of the week’ in both the Telegraph and Radio Times and my first novel, When the Fat Lady Thins, is currently available on Amazon.
I graduated from London Film school in 2012 with a screenwriting MA and have since written a number of feature length scripts, one of which I am planning to shoot in early 2019.
My first short, Rachel (2016) has screened at many festivals, including London’s Portobello Festival, the UK International Jewish Film Festival, St. Livrade Film Festival in France where it was programmed to accompany feature films Lucky and Carré 35, and at the SNOB New England Indie Fest, where it won Best Foreign Film.
My musical background has a strong influence on my approach to film making – music is a necessary part of my creative process and integral to my vision for every project I undertake. As a director I approach film as I do a musical performance – I see it as an act of true collaboration, where no one part is more important than the next. And, as a female director, I have started as I mean to go on, by ensuring that my team is diverse and at least 50% female.
In order to facilitate this I have launched my own production company -Precious Hack Productions.

Yvanne Teo – Stills Photographer
Photographer and Designer, Yvanne works by observing and using her intuition, “finding the unseen quality” in both her images and in her design.
Her photographs are photojournalism by nature, aiming for the minimum of post processing, and using natural lighting whenever possible. With a wide range of focus and her ability to assess the requirements, she taps into the unspoken character and style of her subject matter, enticing her audience to stimulating, engaging and thought provoking images.
She has participated in several solo exhibitions as part of Photomonth – East London Photography Festival, with exhibiting subject matters like: Laughing Portraits (for a psychoanalysis centre); Landscape and Architectural Detail; and, Body Forms in Sport & Occupation.
In her design, she concentrates mainly on bespoke website design and desktop publishing. Understanding both the visual and the technical requirements makes her projects meet the expectations of the end user and the developers with a seamless integration of visual and technical skills.
Introduced over their mutual interest of Fencing, Yvanne was the Stills Photographer for Karen’s short film Rachel, for which she produced the production booklet, poster image, and website.
Her other interests include: Taiji as a martial art; Fencing as a sport; discovering different Cultures through travelling, interior design, and cuisine which she blogs on. She also divides her time between London and the Austrian Alps.
